Role Description:

CSC Generation Engineering needs the best software engineers to support our team’s mission of improving the tech stack of our portfolio companies. We manage existing websites, while building cross product components and upgrading legacy stacks to cutting edge technologies.We work in cross-functional teams consisting of developers, QA and DevOps specialists, along with input from the Product team. The team strives to improve and develop portfolio companies' websites and shared components to make them faster and more successful. We are collaborative, with an emphasis on iteration and learning. We want someone who is excited to work with various tech in a fast-paced culture, wants to make an immediate impact, and is ready to rise to the challenge of a growing organization.


The Software Engineering Manager is a hands on role designed to lead product and architecture, solve technical challenges, contribute as an individual, and help build our team(s). By “hands-on” we don’t mean working with your team on technical problems on a daily basis or leading code reviews. We expect every member of the team, including you, to be actively committing and pushing code changes to one or more of our repositories. We love to code, profile, tinker, refactor, and engineer, and we hope you do, too!


Your day to day will vary but include:

  • Owning the platform tech stack
  • Identifying and resolving technical challenges, building new features, building and implementing the roadmap/strategy, scaling the platform
  • Being the point of contact for business teams, communicating technical details, pushing back on requests when needed
  • Building a team of developers,  driving productivity
  • Replacing legacy code and services
  • Opitmizing the stack
  • Building frameworks for upcoming projects
  • Triaging tickets for the sprint. Planning product roadmaps


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • You're someone who isn't afraid to take ownership of a product or process and run with it. You're ready to run your team your way. 
  • You like having other senior devs around you that can push you forward by challenging you.
  • Experienced in multiple frameworks/languages including: Python, Django, JavaScript, React.js, Angular.js, and Node.js.
  • Believes in finding the best solution, not just one that works


Bonus points if you have:

  • Start-up experience
  • DevOps experience
  • Provisioning ec2 instances. Scaling Elasticsearch.
  • Modern DevOps tools like fabric/docker.
  • Written an app in React, or Angular. You understand the caveats and challenges of developing on the frontend.
  • A strong understanding of modern network design and security practices.
  • Designed and trained a simple neural network.
