CSC Generation Engineering needs the best software leadership to support our mission of improving the tech stack of our portfolio of companies. We manage existing e-commerce websites and support brick-and-mortar stores, while building cross product components and upgrading legacy infrastructure. Our focus on scalability and automation enable continued growth in our portfolio. Our cross-functional teams consist of development, QA, DevOps, and product stakeholders. The team strives to improve portfolio websites and intellectual property through an emphasis on collaboration, iteration and learning. We want someone excited to work in a fast-paced culture, ready to make an immediate impact, and willing to rise to the challenge of a growing organization.
The Chief of Staff furthers our culture of honesty, transparency, and empathy within the engineering organization. Our CoS helps develop staffing plans between our different companies, builds our teams via community evangelism, develops career progression plans, communicates OKRs to the broader business, develops our employee onboarding process, and occasionally assists with planning on special projects. The role requires excellent communication skills to work with business stakeholders and vendors. We are open to candidates who want to work remotely 100% of the time. Our ideal hire works from Austin or Toronto, though candidates outside of these areas will be considered.
Your day to day will vary but include:
Weekly reporting to the executive team on capacity planning for key initiatives
Weekly reporting on engineering staffing KPIs/OKRs
Owning engineering employee retention standard procedures
Building onboarding plans for different roles
Ensuring recruiting is aligned with engineering's staff needs
Defining interview processes for various roles
Our Ideal Candidate:
You're someone who isn't afraid to take ownership of a process or team and run with it.
Able to take complex requirements from multiple stakeholder groups and negotiate a plan
Knows how to take project portfolios and producing budget allocations, timelines and headcount plans
Metrics-driven; eager to set quantitative goals and meet them
Believes in finding the best solution, not just one that works
Excellent written and spoken English, able to clearly communicate complicated ideas both over the phone and in email format
Engineering or similar background and empathy for the day to day reality or development, QA, DevOps etc
Bonus points if you have (not required but helpful):
Written an app in React, or Angular.
Knowledge of core analysis concepts (Bayes’ Theorem, Simpson’s Paradox, significance, etc.)
AWS certification(s) and/or experience with AWS
PPM Certification, other project or people management credentials
